Kinga Czerska

Kinga Czerska
Seattle painter Kinga Czerska was born in Krakow, Poland. She studied Chemical and Biomedical Engineering and Painting at Carnegie Mellon University. She continued her art education at The Art Institute of Chicago and furthered her design education at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, where she obtained a Surface Design Degree in 2003.

Czerska’s work is elegant, rhythmic, and fluid - giving a sense of unity and everlasting formation. Her paintings are densely layered and executed with both deft precision and, at times, a playful lightness. The brushstrokes swoop and flow in a manner which seems to dance with the viewer's expectations about the clarity of a straight line. Her palette scintillates energetically as the viewer is lost in the rhythm and energy of the piece.

“This world has an unbelievable amount of nuance and detail that interlace together to create a whole. In turn, I thin-slice my surroundings as I seek to understand the structured environment around me which is chaotic, yet at the same time graceful, precise, elegant and balanced. I do this by visually flattening the environment in front of me into one plane and analyzing its contents. As the world restructures by shifting and undulating I try to capture the moment of stability before another shift occurs. I try to understand how it all fits, what holds it together and most importantly how one part can affect all others.”
